Binance App Interface Too Confusing — A Beginner's Guide
Did you feel completely overwhelmed the first time you opened the Binance app? A screen filled with numbers, charts, and buttons everywhere, with absolutely no idea where to begin? Do not worry — that is a perfectly normal reaction for every beginner. Binance does pack in a lot of features, but in your daily use, you will really only need a handful of them. Let us walk through the Binance app interface step by step so everything makes sense. Start by registering an account on the Binance official website, then download the Binance official app to follow along. Apple users should first check the iOS installation guide.
The Bottom Navigation Bar
When you open the Binance app, you will see a row of navigation buttons at the very bottom of the screen. These are your most frequently used entry points to different sections of the app:
Home
This is the default screen that appears when you open the app. Here you will find:
- Search bar: Allows you to search for any cryptocurrency by name or ticker symbol
- Quick access buttons: Shortcuts to commonly used features like deposit, withdrawal, and buy crypto
- Market overview: A snapshot of popular cryptocurrencies with their current prices and percentage changes
- Featured promotions: Various ongoing events and campaigns that Binance is running
Beginner tip: Spend some time familiarizing yourself with the home screen layout first. Most actions can be initiated from this page.
Markets
This section displays real-time market data for every trading pair available on Binance. You can sort by price change, trading volume, current price, and more. You can also search for any specific cryptocurrency you are interested in.
Key areas to know:
- Favorites: Cryptocurrencies you have bookmarked will appear here for quick access
- Hot: The most actively traded cryptocurrencies at the moment
- New listings: Cryptocurrencies that have been recently listed on Binance
- Gainers & Losers: The biggest winners and biggest losers of the day
Trade
This is where the core trading functionality lives. When you tap into this section, you will see the trading interface, which includes:
- Candlestick chart: A visual display of price movements over time
- Buy/Sell buttons: Where you place your orders
- Order types: Limit orders, market orders, and more
- Depth chart: A visual representation of buy and sell order distribution
If the candlestick chart looks like a foreign language right now, that is completely fine. To buy and sell, you only need to focus on a few basic buttons to get started.
Earn
All of Binance's financial products are housed in this section:
- Flexible Savings: Deposit and withdraw anytime with relatively lower annual returns
- Fixed Savings: Lock your funds for a set period in exchange for higher returns
- Launchpool: Stake tokens to earn newly launched cryptocurrencies for free
- Dual Investment: A structured financial product for more experienced users
Wallet/Assets
This is where you go to view all of your holdings:
- Total asset overview: The combined value of all your assets converted to a single currency
- Spot account: The various cryptocurrencies you currently hold
- Funding account: The account used for deposits and withdrawals
- Earn account: Assets you have placed into financial products
- Futures account: Margin allocated for futures trading
The Trading Interface Explained in Detail
The trading interface is where most beginners feel the most confused, so let us break it down thoroughly.
The Candlestick Chart Area
The candlestick chart shows how the price of an asset changes over time. Each individual "candle" represents the price movement within a specific time period:
- Green/Red candles: Green indicates the price went up during that period, while red indicates the price went down (note that color conventions may vary between app versions)
- The candle body: This represents the range between the opening price and the closing price for that time period
- The lines above and below (wicks/shadows): These indicate the highest and lowest prices reached during that time period
You can switch between different time frames to view the chart at different resolutions: 1 minute, 5 minutes, 1 hour, 1 day, and so on.
The Order Placement Area
Order types:
- Limit order: You specify a price, and your order will only execute when the market reaches that price
- Market order: Your order executes immediately at the current market price — no waiting required
- Take profit/Stop loss order: You set trigger conditions, and the system automatically places an order when those conditions are met
How to place an order:
- Select either "Buy" or "Sell"
- Choose your order type (beginners should start with market orders — they are the simplest)
- Enter the quantity or amount you want to trade
- Tap confirm to submit your order
The Depth Chart and Order Book
The order book displays all currently pending buy and sell orders in the market. Red entries represent sell orders (the prices at which sellers want to sell), while green entries represent buy orders (the prices at which buyers want to buy).
The depth chart is a graphical representation of the order book, giving you an intuitive visual comparison of buying versus selling pressure in the market.

Tips to Make the Interface Less Overwhelming
Use Lite Mode
The Binance app offers a "Lite" or simplified mode that hides most of the advanced features and only keeps the basic buy and sell functions visible. Beginners can start with Lite mode to get comfortable before switching to the full interface.
Customize Your Home Screen
Some versions of the Binance app allow you to customize what appears on the home screen. Hide the modules you do not need, and the interface will feel much cleaner and more manageable.
Add Favorites
Add the cryptocurrencies you follow most closely to your favorites list. This way, when you open the markets page, you can see them right away without having to search every time.
The Binance official website offers a similar experience to the app but with a larger screen and more comprehensive information display. If you have access to a computer, consider using it for more complex trading operations.
Security Reminder
Keep these points in mind when using the Binance app:
- Make sure you have downloaded the genuine Binance official app — counterfeit versions are extremely common
- Never take screenshots of your trading pages and send them to strangers, as this could expose sensitive account information
- Avoid performing any trading operations while connected to public Wi-Fi networks
- Enable app lock (fingerprint or face recognition) to prevent unauthorized access if your phone is lost or stolen
- Keep the app updated to the latest version to benefit from security patches and bug fixes
- Before using any feature you are unfamiliar with, take the time to understand how it works to avoid costly mistakes
